Happy 70th Birthday Beano

It provides a unique opportunity to see original artwork from The Beano, from its very first issue up to today.  Most of the material, which has been loaned from D C Thomson, has never been shown in public before. It includes work by legendary artists such as Dudley D Watkins, David Law, Leo Baxendale and David Sutherland.

The Trades of Dundee built St Andrew's Kirk in 1772. Its kirkyard has memorials to merchants and shipmasters as well as to bakers and wrights. Preceded by a talk at 1 pm in the adjoining Glasite Hall by Ann Prescott on the work of the Friends of Western Cemetery.

Presentation by Ishbel MacKinnon and members of the SRP Glen Clova Project - Scotland's Rural Past is a nationwide project that works with local communities to research, record and promote the vanishing settlements and landscapes of the rural past in Scotland.This presentation will focus on recent work at Rochtaughs in Glen Clova, where a combination of archaeological survey and historical research is bringing this hidden community back to life.

A new and original open air promenade production commissioned by the Brechin Arts Festival .The play tells the history of Brechin from 1600's and covers the establishing of a settlement, the bustling market, the plague, Bonnie Prince Charlie, the Covenanters, the fire all the way through to the roar of the Factories. Tay Valley Family History Society presents 'Past Days in Glenclova' by Flora Davidson

Flora Davidson is a genealogist who has researched the Kirk Session records of Cortachy and Clova and has been working with Scotland's Rural Past to unearth the previously untold story of the life of the glen. The characters she encountered in her research are brought to life in this collection of short stories.

Flora will talk about what her research uncovered and give short readings from the work.
