Roots Package

Want to trace ancestors in the Angus & Dundee area and walk in their footsteps? Our new 'Roots' package will help you do just that!

Prior to your visit, our professional genealogist, Caroline Makein from Fife Rootsearch, will trace back one line of your family tree as far as she can* and draw up a suggested itinerary.

When you arrive at your hotel a fascinating report will be waiting for you in your Welcome Pack, which will also contain a suggested itinerary taking in the key sites associated with your ancestors. If you wish, Caroline will personally meet with you to go over her findings and discuss your tour.

A specialist Blue Badge Guide, fully briefed on your personal family history by Caroline, will then take you on a one-day guided tour on foot or by car, as appropriate, to see as many as possible of the actual places where your ancestors lived, worked, worshipped and were buried.

Learn long-forgotten facts about your family. Discover more about their occupations and how they supported their families. See the kind of homes where they lived with their children and the places where they worked. Were they rich or poor? Were they connected to a clan? Did they own land or were they working the land? Did they live in a castle or a cottage?

We will try to answer these questions for you.

This promises to be a 'once in a lifetime' experience, letting you walk the land and breathe the air of your ancestors.

*Caroline would hope to be able to go back to the end of the 18th century from a start date in the 20th century, though of course for various reasons this is not always possible.

Price - from £239 per person
