House of Dun House of Dun

This beautiful Georgian house, with fabulous Victorian gardens overlooking the Montrose Basin Nature Reserve, was designed by William Adam and completed in 1730 for David Erskine, the 13th Laird of Dun.

Grand public rooms with elaborate plasterwork by Joseph Enzer sit alongside family apartments. The house contains collections of 18th and 19th century furniture, porcelain and portraits.

The most famous lady of the house - Lady Augusta FitzClarence, the daughter of William IV and the actress Mrs Dorothy Jordan lived here and collected the many royal mementoes now on display. You can see many examples of Lady Augusta's exquisite woolwork and embroidery.

Weddings can be held in The Saloon and adjoining Dining Room. Hung with family portraits and decorated with the most magnificent plasterwork on the walls and ceilings, these rooms provide a wonderfully versatile space for both the ceremony and small receptions for up to 60 people. For larger events of up to 300 people, marquees can be set up in the grounds, while the Victorian walled garden offers the perfect setting for both outdoor weddings and photographs.
