Sigourney Weaver, star of Oscar-nominated film 'Avatar' has revealed plans to accompany her husband Jim Simpson, a theatre director and film-maker of Scottish descent, to trace his family history in Angus this summer.
The couple plan to visit Glasgow before heading for Angus, where the local pubs and walks will be high on their to-do list.
On TV during promotional interviews for her latest film Avatar, Ms Weaver said: "I've heard from my husband that Scotland is a beautiful country and I've been dying to visit. We've been talking about it for a while and we finally got embarrassed that we hadn't made the trip.
"We want to go to Forfar and Glasgow because my husband's family were from those two places, and everyone says Glasgow is a great city."
A spokesman for Angus Archives said it would help anyone interested in tracing their family roots in the county by looking at its extensive online recording of burials in the Angus area which dates back hundreds of years, adding "We have a wealth of information available to those seeking details of their ancestry and we will be happy to help Sigourney Weaver and her husband.'
