½ lb. Oatmeal
½ teasp. Salt
1 tablesp. Melted fat
Pinch of Baking Soda
Boiling water to mix
Method:
1.Heat girdle slowly. Mix dry ingredients.
2.Add melted fat and mix to soft consistency with boiling water.
3.Knead into cake of a board, using oatmeal
4.Roll out and cut into 8.
5.Bake one side on hot girdle.
6.Toast second side under grill, in front of fire, or in oven till crisp.
(Bannocks can be made in the same way but knead into small rounds ½ inch thick before cooking.)
